He wasn't dissing Anaheim really. He just wanted to play in a place where he could get more ice time and show how he can be a top pairing two way defender.

Nikitin has been probably even a disappointment since being a disappointment. I think we all knew he wasn't worth the money he was being paid, but he hasn't looked comfortable for more than a three-shift stretch all year.

I like Jeff Petry. I think he's our best defenseman. I think we should resign him, and I think with a legit #1 defender he'd be a capable #2 guy, which is more than most would say about him. But to be perfectly fair, he had a bad game. He looked tentative on his powerplay opportunities and made two objectively bad plays on the 3rd and 4th goals that regardless of what his teammates did, he's capable of handling better.

Players spurn Canadian teams and specifically the Oilers ALL the time in favour of California and the one time it happens the other way they won't stop talking about it for three years.

Actually twice. When Smyth wanted out of LA they were butthurt about it too. Matt Barry even brought it up in the team's post-cup win blog. What a sense of entitlement that a player must be a jagoff if he doesn't want to bolt for Cali.

It's as if they forget that Pronger backstabbed Edmonton, dictated exactly where he wanted to go and set a deadline on it and the Oilers diligently worked out a trade as quickly as possible to his and his wife's dream location, which incidentally handed them the cup and sent the oilers into a decade-long spiral.

And they're still whining about the one time a player that never played a game for them and probably never had an intention of signing with them chose Edmonton after being offered identical contracts by all 30 teams and isn't even that good or a player they'd particularly miss whether he was in Edmonton or not. Christ, I'm done with Anaheim and I hope the moment Getzlaf and Perry leave town all their fairweather mickey mouse fans move on supporting the local European handball team and the Honda Centre burns down in a Redwood fire.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I detect frustration and angriness from you because of the Oilers situation, but you try to hide those feelings by trying to find something positive about this team and convince your self that this team can still turned around?

I don't think there are any redwoods in Anaheim. Rednecks maybe, but no redwoods.

Arbitrage theory suggests the Oilers would be huge winners if they were to do the exact opposite of what most people are suggesting. Theoretically a deal for Taylor Hall would solidify the Oiler chances on drafting a generational talent (McDavid). It would also get them another first round pick and at least two top prospects.

You can never fix a systemic problem from the bottom. The entire incestuous front office needs to be fired. Katz needs to establish a basic operating principle that no player who has ever worn an Oiler sweater will ever work in the Oiler front office.

Place the management decisions in receivership. Bring in a real heavyweight (a recently retired GM) to begin a reorganization of the front office and to hire a new GM.

Do not let the current group of clowns make one more deal or change. They are the problem. A new broom is needed.
